As a Health Coach I am exposed to A LOT of different theories and ideas on how to be the best we can be. I recently started learning more about our acidity level in our body and why it is important. As a relatively healthy person, I certainly never imagined that I could be out of balance and not in the desired range. BUT since I always like to experience any ideas that I may use in my practice first hand — I decided I better test this out and see what this is all about!
Before I tell you my day one text results… I wanted to just give you a little bit of information as to why we want to have our bodies in an alkaline environment.
First when we measure our pH we are not measuring our blood pH — as that is relatively stable at 7.4. We are measuring our urine and saliva. Checking our pH is key to determining our cellular health, mineral status and lifestyle consequences! Research shows that an alkaline state is healthier for your body. The body attempts to maintain an alkaline pH balance in most of its tissues and cells.
What are the consequences of a high acidic environment in your body? While it will vary from person to person some of the affects could be:
Brain fog | Tire Easily | No Motivation |
Allergies | Stiffness | Tension |
Circulatory Health | Muscle and Joint Discomfort | Blood Sugar Challenges |
What factors can impact your pH?
Diet | Water | Sleep |
Stress | Exercise |
Foods to Avoid:
Soda | Processed Foods | Caffeine |
Dairy | Sugar |
Generally speaking, fruits and vegetables are the most alkaline foods so your diet should be comprised of mostly these foods.

Fresh Lemons alkalizes our bodies
FUN FACT! A Lemon outside of the body has a pH of 2! (Ideally you want have a pH above a 7.2) But that lemon has an alkalizing affect inside the body! That is why we have lemon in our water! (I prefer to use two drops of a high quality essential oil rather than fresh lemons because I have a habit of having moldy lemons at the bottom of my vegetable drawer!)
OK — so my day one results – I tested 3 times in the morning (2 urine and one saliva test)! AND I was about a lower than a 6.0 It may not seem horrible BUT I thought I was doing everything right! (October 10, 2018)
I will be doing this over the next 30 days and testing every day. I will be logging my food, my exercise and my sleep. I will also be keeping journal so I can track any stressors that may cause my pH level to drop.
I am interested to see what happens?
